Feeling restless and edgy since Christmas, it occurred upon me that 2008 is coming to an end and in four more days, 2009 will come. Why restless and edgy since December always come abundant with holidays? Properly its because of the extra load that was bestowed to me at work, properly it is just the red meat and extra pound I gained since Christmas (ophs), properly it’s just me!

As I sat down writing this entry, I wanted to put down the list of stuff that I want to complete by end of 2008. Here they are:

1. Update my Wordpress Theme done 27th
2. Write about my Western Australia holiday trip done 30th
3. Write about my Koh Samui holiday trip done 30th
4. Create a slideshow/gallery for 2008 Wedding/Solemnization

UPDATED 31st Dec 2008 10:24pm
Guess item no 4 is not going to happen in 2008. I have ran out of time. Have a Happy New Year and all the best to year 2009. Cheers.

Flipping the newspaper this evening, I realized that there is only 1 race left in this year Formula Grand Prix. My mind immediately raced back to the Singapore F1 photos buried deep in my hard disk folders! Anyway let’s do a flashback before i publish my photos …

Approximately 8yrs ago I was in Melbourne studying for my Degree. My fellow University mates, persuaded me without success to part with A$300+ (can’t remember clearly) to watch a once in a life time F1 race at Albert Park, Melbourne. I have two reasons for not going, firstly as a student A$300+ was a lot of money and secondly i was thinking “what’s so great about few cars racing each other?”. I was partially wrong but my friends were wrong too because they told me that “F1 will never come to Singapore!”.

With great fortune, a close friend of mine invited me to attend the F1 qualifying race on the 27th September 2008. I rejected the offer initially but changed my mind once i found out that our seats were located at the pit grand stand! Anyway to cut a long story short, the action and atmosphere was great and i felt in love with hot burning tyres, thunderous engine noise and hot babes. On the flipside, an $8 coke (can) and $12 burger are something that i will complaint about for a long time. Saving the best for last, here are some photos i took during that night.

p/s: I fell in love with F1 but still will NOT spend S$300 on a ticket. Any sponsor for next year?

I was tossing around the bed with great discomfort and thinking to myself “shit, 4th day still got fever”! With the heat unbearable, I decided to wake up early. My alarm clock indicates fiften mintues pass six am. With thermometer under my arm pit, I walked towards the bathroom, switch on the light and “arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.

With a mild fever and rash covered hands, I frantically search through my camera bag; “two cameras - yes, two flashes - yes, lenses - yes, batteries+CF - yes, two Kevin - NO“. With every corner of my body, face, hand, leg covered with rashes, a 12noon ROM shoot on hand and the thought that i may have dengue fever, I decided to initate “Exercise Save Kevin + Kevin’s Client”. Darrel, a fellow photographer i have known since Uni days became my savour. Thanks Darrel.

Now 4 days later, I have no fever, no rash but two tubes of blood less. Thanks goodness it’s not dengue and thanks Ivan and Zane for being so understanding.

My 1st meet up with Gilbert and Radiah was at Compass Point KFC way back in February. Other than getting a confirmation of my service, I parted with the thought that I will be adding to my portfolio, my 1st groom with shoulder length hair! <grin>

Time flies and with great anticipation, I arrived at the Mandai Orchid Garden on the 25th of May to a serene surrounding of lush greenery and beautiful orchids. I must admit that this location brings a very special experience to the guests and wedding couple with total freedom to explore and roam around. This is a lovely location for couples who love the great outdoor.

Anyway, the heavy downpour didn’t dampen the mood any bit, plus Gilbert and Radiah and their group of playful friends was great fun to work with. And did i mentioned that i added to my portfolio, that of a clean cut boyish groom and a beautifully bride. No ”long hair” groom portfolio for me enjoy the photos.

Well, the good part first. Children, other than being good photography subject, are a good form of entertainment when the going is slow. This is especially true for those between the age of 2-4yrs old. I think fellow photographers out there will agree with me. Right?

On the other hand when their going is slow and they start sourcing around for “entertainment”, then it’s trouble time for us! Fancy some “touch that len and leave my finger print playtime”? That is a big no no especially those who hang their 2nd camera behind them. These little monsters will zoom in and wack the clear clean glass out of your life. Arrrrrrgh …
